About The Position

Freddie Mac Multifamily is seeking a Multifamily Underwriting Professional to join the Targeted Affordable Housing team. This role involves underwriting loans for multifamily properties, ensuring accurate data quality for loan securitization, and analyzing unique affordable housing financial considerations. The position requires developing resolutions to problems following specific procedures and presenting deals for approval. The team is responsible for underwriting Targeted Affordable Housing (TAH) loans originated by Optigo Lenders and is innovative in evaluating credit risk and mitigating risks.

Requirements

2 - 4 years of related professional experience, preferably in multifamily or commercial real estate finance
Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Good knowledge of credit policy, procedures and systems
Work product exhibits minimal errors

Experience underwriting 80% of TAH products
Ability to underwrite and assist on other Specialty Products

Responsibilities

Build toward credit approval and closing individual mortgage loans collateralized by multifamily properties.
Accurately review and ensure concise, complete, and clear Investment Briefs and ensure accurate data quality for loan securitization.
Analyze and conclude on unique affordable housing pro forma property financial statement considerations.
Resolve transactional issues that escalate in third party reports.
Work with Producers to structure deals.
Review borrower financial position, market analysis, and property inspections.
Present deals for approval as needed.
Develop resolutions to problems of limited scope following specific and detailed procedures.
Manage 2 transactions independently at a given time and drive to 90% to 100% completion.
Lead Optigo Lender calls.
Tackle and effectively complete additional tasks and assignments at the request of Senior Underwriters and above.
Underwrite 80% of TAH products.
Underwrite and assist on other Specialty Products.
Raise issues in a timely fashion and make recommendations on how to resolve issues rather than waiting on what to be told to do.
