The Energy Rater plays a key role in the design and certification of high-performance multifamily buildings by conducting HERS energy modeling, reviewing construction documents, and providing technical recommendations throughout the design process. Working closely with architects, developers, and project teams, this position helps optimize building performance and ensure compliance with ENERGY STAR, LEED, Enterprise Green Communities, Passive House, and other green building programs. The ideal candidate is motivated, detail-oriented, and eager to grow professionally in the green building industry. Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 2 years of experience in construction, energy efficiency, or a related field.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Authorization to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

• Trade school education, an Associate degree, or relevant certifications are preferred but not required.
• Familiarity with HERS ratings, ENERGY STAR certifications, or other green building programs is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work with green building programs such as Energy Star, LEED for Homes, Enterprise Green Communities, and Passive House.
• Communicate program guidelines, requirements, and desired outcomes to clients and contractors.
• Conduct energy assessments and perform energy modeling using HERS (Home Energy Rating System) protocols and tools to estimate energy use, guide decision making, and issue certifications.
• Work with architects and developers to develop building plans with an eye for sustainability to meet various energy efficiency and green building programs.
• Analyze data and provide recommendations for energy efficiency improvements.
