About The Position

Manage and develop Gordon Food Service business relationships with profitable regional multi-unit chain customers. Defines project scope and assumes ownership of all prime vendor presentations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/Equivalent required.
  • Six years of business development experience required.
  • Must have excellent written, verbal, organizational and communication skills as well as problem-solving capabilities.
  • Must have ability to prepare and deliver presentations and speak at minor functions as a departmental representative.
  • Must have the ability to multi-task, prioritize and be able to work independently or within a team environment.
  • Must have strong negotiation, customer service focus, be a strategic thinker, inquisitive, innovative and creative in order to build relationships, network, link resources and apply business practices.
  • Ability to understand and utilize market research and P&L statements.
  • Must be able to travel to different locations.

  • Bachelor Degree in Business, Sales or Marketing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the development of new and existing multi-unit business within assigned region, defines project scope and assumes ownership of all prime vendor presentations and participates in the regions long range planning process.
  • Acquires new business through development of a key account prospect list and implementing business plans accordingly.
  • Collaborates with key decision-makers and executives of accounts and prospective accounts to build and maintain business relationships.
  • Coordinates the demonstration or presentation of products and discusses applications, using samples or marketing material, emphasizing salable features based on price or value to benefit customer’s business operations.
  • Utilizes and applies customer profitability and pricing models to negotiate customer agreements.
  • Reports monthly to leadership team regarding current and potential customer activities and developments.
  • Creates and reviews monthly reports to include customer KPI, locked-in-pricing and proprietary items lists.
  • Manages credit terms within established parameters created by the finance department and directs collection of accounts receivable to manage credit relationship with customers.
  • Provides direct line of communication with the US National Chain support departments and Regional Chain Support Manager.
  • Participates in training the Customer Development Specialist and Associates to ensure their understanding of the Regional Chain Manager’s role and of key customer relationships.
  • Maintain knowledge of segment through industry magazines and local culinary organizations
  • Demonstrate and deliver understanding of Foodservice Industry and operations
  • Understand areas of customer focus, including Sales Building, Staffing, Profitability, and Compliance
  • Collaborates with direct supervisors to develop capital and operational budget needs for the department.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
