About The Position

The Multi-skilled Technician, under the supervision of an RN, performs basic patient care activities. This role actively demonstrates the organization’s mission and core values and conducts oneself at all times in a manner consistent with these values. The technician knows and adheres to all laws and regulations pertaining to patient health, safety, and medical information. Responsibilities include performing basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, such as taking blood glucose measurements, recording intake and output, and assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living including bathing, grooming, and eating. The technician also performs ordered EKGs and Phlebotomy duties according to policy and per documented training and competency assessment. Additionally, the role involves assisting with keeping patient rooms stocked, clean, and orderly, attending required in-services, workshops, retreats, and staff meetings, and participating in performance improvement activities. Other duties consistent with the purpose of the job may be assigned.

Requirements

• High school level courses or equivalent.
• Ability to read, write, and spell English and perform simple arithmetic calculations.
• Successful completion of EKG and Phlebotomy course upon hire or transfer.
• Successful completion of the initial clinical competency requirements in order to perform independently.
• CPR certification on hire or able to attain within 60 days.

• Previous patient care experience and/or technical education in health-related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs Phlebotomy duties according to policy and per documented training and competency assessment.

• Attends required in-services, workshops, retreats, staff meetings.
• Participates in and fosters a performance improvement approach that includes both intradepartmental and interdepartmental activities.
• Performs other duties consistent with purpose of job as directed.
