About The Position

At CentraState Medical Center, the Ambulatory Services and Short Stay Unit (SSU) offers an appealing short-term healthcare environment. These moderately paced units feature fast patient turnover and serve a diverse population, including pre & post-surgical patients recovering from orthopedic, gastric bypass, urologic, and vascular procedures, as well as cross training in endoscopy. The MAB area includes five recovery rooms and five holding areas, with no on-call requirements. With ample opportunities for cross-training and skill development, these units provide an ideal environment to launch or advance a career in ambulatory medicine. CentraState Medical Center currently has an employment opportunity available for a Multi Skilled Technician within Ambulatory Services. The Multi Skilled Technician provides technical support to licensed healthcare professionals by delivering high-quality patient care aligned with established standards, The Joint Commission requirements, and CentraState policies. Care is delivered through a multidisciplinary, patient-focused model that ensures collaboration and clinical excellence across the department.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One year nursing assistant healthcare experience or successful completion of Nurse Assistant or MST training course required.
  • CPR Certification required within first 6 months of hire.
  • EKG Certification required within first 6 months of hire.
  • Glucose and Phlebotomy Certification required within first 6 months of hire.
  • Strong professional, organizational, and interpersonal skills to effectively relate with all members of the healthcare team.

Responsibilities

  • Provides considerate respectful care focused on the patients' individual needs.
  • Affirms the patient's right to make decisions regarding his/her medical care, including the decision to discontinue treatment, to the extent permitted by law.
  • Demonstrates the ability to obtain information and interpret information in terms of the needs of the age of the patients cared for. Demonstrates an understanding of the range of care needed based on the age of the patients cared for. Demonstrates knowledge of growth, development and /or adult health throughout the life span as appropriate to the job performed.
  • Successfully completes life-span education as appropriate.
  • Correctly performs all scheduled and assigned tasks while continually observing patient needs.
  • Accurately checks exterior of code cart each shift.
  • Verbalizes/performs understanding of 1:1 precautions and documents appropriately.
  • Supports operations by demonstrating ability and willingness to float between units as an MST/PCT and provides 1:1 patient observation when deemed necessary.
  • Answers patient call lights in a timely manner.
  • Implements basic nursing care and assists patients with activities of daily living.
  • Provides partial or complete direct personal hygienic care to patients.
  • Correctly makes occupied and unoccupied beds.
  • Assists with the elimination needs of the patient while providing privacy and dignity.
  • Correctly feeds patients.
  • Performs tasks to maintain patient mobility.
  • Accurately performs simple wound care.
  • Correctly empties drainage bags.
  • Accurately performs ostomy care.
  • Accurately performs incentive spirometry and pulse oximetry.
  • Provides appropriate interventions as directed by nurse.
  • Correctly sets up oxygen equipment.
  • Accurately maintains tube feedings.
  • Accurately collects patient data utilizing learned technical skills under the direction of the RN.
  • Accurately takes temperatures, pulses, respirations and blood pressure.
  • Collects specimens.
  • Correctly calibrates the bedside glucose monitor.
  • Measures patients' weight and height.
  • Retrieves blood from the Blood Bank.
  • Performs post mortem care.
  • Participates in preparation and intervention of diagnostic or therapeutic patient care.
  • Follows CSHS policy regarding restraint application, documentation and observation.
  • Properly performs electrocardiograms.
  • Performs pain (5th vital sign) screening as indicated. Notifies nurse immediately for patient's complaints of pain/discomfort.
  • Accurately measures intake and output.
  • Reports patient intake and output to nurse.
