About The Position

The Multi-Skilled Technician (MST) is an experienced health care worker who provides both patient care and administrative support within the Endoscopy department. This role involves a program to train the individual to become a Surgical Technician. The position requires a commitment to education and involves specific shift patterns, including late stays and weekend call. A contract for a 2-year commitment is required to cover the education to become a Certified Surgical Technician (CST).

Requirements

  • Florida licensure as Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Paramedic, or a military Hospital Corpsman, Combat Medic Specialist, or Aerospace Medical Service Specialist; or National licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), which must be maintained active during employment.
  • Nursing students who are eligible for CNA exam must: be currently enrolled in an accredited school of Nursing (RN/LPN); have completed the first semester of clinical for ASN/BSN degree or completion of first trimester for LPN; cannot be currently licensed in the U.S. as a RN or LPN; and be a Nurse/Practical Nurse Graduate who is eligible and/or scheduled to sit for the NCLEX exam within 12 months of hire date.
  • Patient Care Technician (PCT) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Certification: Provide certification of successful completion of a Florida State Board approved program and successfully obtain a Florida CNA license within 120 days of graduation.
  • Employees hired without the above licensure and/or by years of experience only prior to 11/11/19, are grandfathered in and will have the option of obtaining the stipulated licensure.
  • Basic Life Support/CPR (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care and administrative support.
  • Undergo training to become a Surgical Technician.
  • Participate in a program to become a CST.
  • Work 10-hour days.
  • Work late shifts once every 1 or 2 weeks.
  • Be on call for weekends occurring every 6 weeks.
