About The Position

Provides safe, efficient, and therapeutic effective patient care as scheduled. Responsibilities include performing patient care services, ensuring daily living activities are performed as scheduled and documented, performing technical skills per standards as assigned/delegated, and promptly responding to call lights as appropriate. The role proactively participates in implementing patient care plans, schedules patients for treatments, procedures, and/or tests per standards, and follows safety rules in all areas of patient care, ensuring a safe patient environment. The technician will maintain patient data and records, communicate patient/family healthcare needs to the appropriate healthcare provider, and report significant events and information timely to the appropriate team member. Assistance with planning by sharing input from patient and family with the appropriate team member is also a key responsibility. The role involves answering the telephone and call lights appropriately and timely, delivering information to appropriate team members, and maintaining supplies and equipment of the assigned area. Ensuring all patient care and unit equipment are in proper working order, performing courier services as requested, and maintaining an adequate inventory of supplies are also part of the duties. The technician participates as a member of the team to achieve business goals, quality outcomes, and customer satisfaction, providing assistance to team members as requested or required. Participation on committees/councils and performance improvement activities as requested/required, including unit meetings and education, is expected. Regular and timely attendance is required, along with successful completion of probation and annual skills/competency requirements. The role requires practicing within legal, ethical, and professional boundaries, maintaining expertise in the area, and serving as a role model by demonstrating positive team-based behaviors. Commitment to personal professional growth through the pursuit of advanced knowledge and skills is essential, as is safeguarding confidential information. Performance of duties will be in compliance with all laws and regulations governing healthcare organizations. Other related duties as assigned or requested, contributing to the daily operations of the department by performing other roles or duties as needed, and completing special duties or projects as assigned are also part of the role.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Effective oral and written communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Successful completion of CNA, medical terminology and/or Fundamentals in Nursing courses
  • Certified Nursing Assistant, EMT, or Corpsmen
  • One year as a nursing assistant or similar role
  • Knowledge of procedures and techniques in administering and providing basic patient care services.
  • Knowledge of supplies used in patient care.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Understanding of asepsis and sterile techniques to avoid infection of patients and self or contamination of equipment and supplies.
  • Basic knowledge of keyboarding and computer operations.
