Requirements

  • Assoc. Degree/College Diploma Completion of course work with an accredited institution in one of the imaging modalities (ie. Ultrasound, Radiologic Technology, MRI) required
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association and/or the American Red Cross required
  • Imaging Registered Rad Tech certification with relevant accrediting body (ARRT, ARMRIT, ARDMS) required
  • Imaging CA Radiologic Tech Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT)- CA State License. required
  • Fluoroscopy License required
  • 2 years minimum two years experience as an imaging technologist
  • 1 year minimum one year experience in each relevant modality

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and checks patients prior to Imaging procedure. Properly screens all patients and personnel prior to performance of the examination.
  • Acquires patient questionnaire, chart, data/requisition and reviews all to determine contraindication of having Imaging examination.
  • Verifies and validates patient screening safety form including allergies. Performs Imaging procedures required per protocol, daily QA/QC and calibration.
  • Performs venipunctures, draws specimens and maintains proficiencies.
  • Educates patients regarding Imaging procedures, equipment and exam.
  • Ensures patients' comfort and safety during and after the exam.
  • May assist with scheduling of patients as needed.
  • Prepares and administers appropriate contrast media for imaging exam as required.
  • Acquires, archives, transmits and prints images via PACS. When applicable, completes after hours transmission of images and appropriate paperwork.
  • Immediately reports any malfunctions; observes potential equipment dysfunctions and reports problems or calls for service.
  • Maintains available equipment up-time. Applies knowledge of radiation physics and safety regulations to limit radiation exposure of the public, patients, fellow workers and self to as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA).
  • Responsible for continuing professional development and learning new updates, technical information, and skills.
  • May be required to rotate through all imaging modalities, sites, and/or locations.
