About The Position

The Multi-Modality Technologist performs routine and complex high-quality imaging exams in assigned modalities. The Multi-Modality Technologist provides safe, patient-centered care with attention to the physical and emotional needs of patients of all age groups.

Requirements

  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT), Certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB), or Registry by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist – Nuclear Medicine (ARRT –N)
  • BLS and has successfully completed their 6-month orientation.
  • Additional certification in at least 1 of these modalities (MR, CT, M, VI, CI, N, NMTCB, RDMS, RDCS, CCI, or RVT)
  • Individuals with at least one year of experience can be hired directly into this role

Responsibilities

  • Perform all the duties of a Multi-Modality Technologist I.
  • Safely administer contrast or other imaging agents including the identification of incompatibilities and/or interactions.
  • Assess a patient’s risk for allergic reaction to contrast media and other related medications prior to administration and following appropriate protocols for escalation of concerns.
  • Evaluate lab values prior to administering contrast media or other related medications and beginning the ordered examination.
  • Provide accurate explanations and instructions to the patient and family using age-appropriate language and verifying that the patient understands and agrees to the completion of the ordered exam.
  • Perform ordered exams or therapy in accordance with established imaging protocols while respecting the patient’s ability and comfort.
  • Adhere to policies and utilize protocols to determine that expected outcomes have been met.
  • Document deviations from protocol and/or patient-specific issues that may impact image quality.
  • Notify the appropriate health care provider when an immediate clinical response is necessary based on procedural findings, patient condition, or other relevant concerns that may impact patient safety or care.
  • Timely complete all required post-processing, image display, and transfer for physician review.
  • Demonstrate timely order closure, charge entry, and PACS QA completion.
  • Routinely cover open shifts as appropriate based on your level of competency.
  • Perform procedures involving equipment utilized in the OR, including but not limited to C-arm, O-arm, Ziehm.
  • Perform diagnostic studies in a minimum of two different modalities.
  • Experienced and competent in routine and complex studies.
  • Complete understanding of technical standards, scope of practice, department and health system policies, and safety and service standards.
  • Complete understanding of imaging equipment, image processing software, instrumentation, and ancillary patient care equipment.
