About The Position

Performs radiographic and other advanced modality imaging procedures to assist physicians in the diagnosis of disease and injuries. This role involves preparing and positioning patients, operating imaging equipment, ensuring radiation protection, processing images, performing routine equipment maintenance, and maintaining records. The technologist will also assist in training students and new staff, provide excellent customer service, and respond to patient needs across various age groups. Flexibility in scheduling, including adjusting breaks and lunches for patient care, is expected. Call is a requirement of this position. Assists radiologist in fluoroscopic and special x-ray examinations, measures and mixes barium and contrast media, and operates mobile radiologic equipment in various settings. Performs exams and assists in procedures in advanced imaging modalities and is able to operate advanced imaging surgery equipment.

Requirements

  • 6 months Experience in at least one advanced modalities.
  • 3 months surgery experience.
  • Radiography - ARRT Required
  • Basic Life Support - BLS Required within 90 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years Experience in a hospital/clinic.
  • Passage of at least one advance modality (CT, NM, MRI MG, or US), as determined by SVH Imaging department needs is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and positions patient for diagnostic and advanced imaging procedures.
  • Moves imaging equipment into specified position, determines exposure factors, and adjusts equipment controls to produce images of proper detail, density, and accuracy.
  • Adjusts immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body.
  • Explains procedures to patient to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation.
  • Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patient and staff.
  • Performs a variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative.
  • Processes images and reviews for proper identification and quality control.
  • Prepares images for reading by radiologist or requesting physician.
  • Performs routine maintenance, diagnoses malfunctions, and makes minor repairs on radiologic equipment.
  • Completes forms and maintains records, logs, and reports of work performed.
  • Performs office work including answering phone, obtaining information from computer, and ordering departmental supplies.
  • Assists in training students and/or new staff.
  • Provides a positive image to customers by creating a friendly atmosphere and placing a high priority on meeting customer needs.
  • Provides services in a prompt manner at times convenient for the customers.
  • Responds to needs and is knowledgeable of appropriate care for school-aged through gerontological patients.
  • Contributes to a team atmosphere by demonstrating excellent communication skills, taking initiative, and being flexible.
  • Adjusts break and lunch schedules to accommodate patient care.
  • Assists radiologist in fluoroscopic and special x-ray examinations.
  • Measures and mixes barium and contrast media.
  • Operates mobile radiologic equipment in operating room, emergency room, or at patient's bedside.
  • Performs exams in advanced imaging modalities.

  • Able to operate advanced imaging surgery equipment.
  • Complies with all policies, standards, mandatory training and requirements of Stormont Vail Health.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
