About The Position

KNBN Newscenter1, the NBC station in Rapid City, SD, is seeking a News/Sports Multi-Media Journalist (MMJ). This role involves writing stories, conducting interviews, shooting and editing video, and reporting live on breaking news and sports events. The MMJ will also anchor weekend sportscasts and fill-in anchor for both sports and news. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional writing, communication, and organizational skills, and be creative, hardworking, and a self-starter.

Requirements

• Journalism, communications, or a related field degree is desired, though equivalent experience will be considered.
• Videography and video editing experience is preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be creative, hardworking and a self-starter.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and a driving record that is insurable by the company.
• Must carry an acceptable level of vehicle insurance as required by the company.

Responsibilities

• Anchor and produce sport segments during the Saturday and Sunday newscast.
• Report on a variety of news and sports stories, including high school and college sports, and other outdoor sporting events, developing unique content to drive audience engagement.
• Shoot and edit video, and edit stories for newscasts.
• Write news and sports scripts for broadcast and digital platforms.
