About The Position

Bring Strategic Thinking, Organization and Operational Excellence to Room & Board’s Chicago Showrooms. At Room & Board, extraordinary customer experience depends on what happens behind the scenes just as much as what happens on the showroom floor. As our Multi-Location Inventory & Operations Specialist, you’ll help create extraordinary customer experience by keeping inventory accurate and product moving efficiently across our Chicago, Oak Brook and Skokie showrooms and in partnership with our Delivery and Distribution Centers. This is an active, hands-on role where you’ll work with product throughout our showroom and stockroom environments while using strong organization, technology and communication to manage priorities and solve inventory challenges across multiple locations. If you enjoy thinking strategically, adapting quickly in a fast-paced environment, solving problems and building strong partnerships, we’d love to meet you. This role is part of our Retail team and reports to the Retail Market Manager/Regional Retail Market Manager.

  • Strong organization, planning and project coordination skills with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, details and deadlines.
  • Experience managing inventory processes, including cycle counts, replenishment, product movement and inventory accuracy.
  • Strong technology aptitude and proficiency with Excel and Microsoft 365. Experience with SAP or another ERP/inventory system is preferred.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to coordinate work and influence outcomes across multiple partners and locations.
  • A proactive problem-solving mindset with strong attention to detail, agility and follow-through.
  • Comfort working in a physically active role, spending a significant portion of your day moving throughout showroom and stockroom environments, handling product and completing hands-on inventory work.
  • Willingness to travel regularly between our Chicago, Oak Brook and Skokie locations.
  • Ability to provide proof of identity and legal work authorization upon hire.
  • Ability to safely perform the physical requirements of the role. The safety and well-being of our staff members is paramount. Because this position requires physical stamina and regular hands-on work with products, final candidates are required to successfully complete a pre-employment physical.
