About The Position

Employ scientific engineering solutions to technical challenges of the Safeguards & Security (S&S) control program for special nuclear materials (SNM). Primary activities will include reviewing assay data to determine attractiveness levels and quantity of material. Ensure SNM is accurately inventoried and reported concerning shipments, receipts, and removals of discardable material. Provide technical interpretation of DOE requirements and application of program requirements for Safeguards application. Secondary activities will include Material Control and Accountability (MC&A) qualifications and support.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Software Engineering or closely related Scientific Degree.
Salary Grade 15: 2 years relevant experience or equivalent education and experience.
Salary Grade 18: 12 years relevant experience or equivalent education and experience.
A combination of experience and education may be substituted for a degree. Bachelors equivalent is 8 years of directly relevant experience.
U.S. citizenship.
Must have the ability to obtain a “Q” clearance.

Nice To Haves

Have a good understanding of materials science and mathematics.
Degree in technology field such as chemistry, physics, mathematics, or engineering is preferred.
