About The Position

The MLL Long-Term Substitute Teacher provides instructional continuity for multilingual learners during an extended teacher absence, delivering language development instruction and supporting content-area access in alignment with students' language instruction educational program (LIEP) plans as applicable.

Requirements

  • Valid MN teaching license/certification
  • Familiarity with WIDA standards or state MLL frameworks
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual/multilingual skills a plus, not always required
  • Experience working with multilingual learners or in a culturally/linguistically diverse setting preferred

Responsibilities

  • Implement lesson plans and curriculum for English/multilingual language development instruction
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students at varying English proficiency levels
  • Monitor and support student progress toward language acquisition goals
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, EL coordinators, and support staff to ensure consistent services
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, participation, and student progress
  • Communicate with families as needed, using interpretation/translation resources when available
  • Administer or support required assessments
  • Maintain a positive, culturally responsive classroom environment
  • Follow all district policies regarding MLL program compliance and confidentiality
