Multi-Domain Sensing Engineer/ Model Simulation Analyst

SAICColorado Springs, CO
Onsite

About The Position

The qualified applicant will support the Space Warfighting Analysis Center’s (SWAC) Multi-Domain Sensing Program (MDSP), Missile Warning Tracking & Defense (MWTD) Division in Colorado Springs, CO with expertise in Missile Warning/Missile Tracking (MW/MT) systems/processes and modeling and simulation (M&S). The SWAC will conduct analysis, modeling, wargaming and experimentation to create operational concepts and Force Design guidance for the Space Force for consideration and CSO decisions. The applicant will be the focal point for capturing missile defense “ground truth” simulation ready scenarios that can be used as a common basis for MW/MT sensor trade and missile defense kill-chain analysis both in-house and across multiple performers/orgs. The applicant will be able to clearly communicate the status and results of work conducted for multiple Force Design Working Groups to various stakeholders and senior leaders across the Department of War and Intelligence Community. This position requires significant technical understanding of MW/MT as well as significant experience with M&S. The candidate must be able to: articulate what missile warning and tracking sensing is needed from tactical to strategic levels, where it needs to go and how fast it needs to get there; employ and develop modeling, simulation, and analysis tools; analyze modeling and simulation results; coordinate internal and external modeling and simulation efforts and provide recommendations on potential improvements to concepts and architectures.

Requirements

  • Expertise in Missile Warning/Missile Tracking (MW/MT) systems/processes and modeling and simulation (M&S).
  • Ability to articulate what missile warning and tracking sensing is needed from tactical to strategic levels, where it needs to go and how fast it needs to get there.
  • Ability to employ and develop modeling, simulation, and analysis tools.
  • Ability to analyze modeling and simulation results.
  • Ability to coordinate internal and external modeling and simulation efforts.
  • Ability to provide recommendations on potential improvements to concepts and architectures.
  • Significant technical understanding of MW/MT.
  • Significant experience with M&S.

Responsibilities

  • Develop target (missile) and effector simulations and corresponding trajectory and behavior files using industry standard M&S tools such as the Advanced Framework for Simulation Integration and Modeling (AFSIM).
  • Develop modeling and simulation analysis and assessment scripts using government network supportable tools such as Python, and/or Matlab.
  • Develop space-based missile warning access and performance models using industry standard M&S tools such as Systems Tool Kit (STK) or Satellite Orbit Analysis Program (SOAP) and integrate SWAC space-based ISR capability area force designs with modeling and simulation expertise.
  • Assist in force design analysis planning, analysis execution coordination, and analysis results evaluation.
  • Recommend and document force design dependencies and opportunities (joint, intelligence community, industry, international and other government organizations).
  • Assist with modeling inputs and simulation development for external M&S efforts.
  • Collaborate in cross-functional planning, coordination and task execution involving the full spectrum of systems engineering and integration activities for a force design effort.
  • Coordinate efforts internally and externally with multiple agencies/organizations.
