About The Position

At Cherokee Millwright, we are a multi-craft company that focuses on the needs of our customers by providing multi-trades personnel to meet the customer’s unique job requests. Therefore, all field employees will be cross-trained in various trades such as millwrighting, pipefitting, welding, sheet metal, civil, etc. The focus of this position will be in lay out, assemble, install and maintain pipe systems, pipe supports and related equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, compressed air and industrial production and processing systems. However, it will not be entirely set to this specific skillset. Additional skills in other crafts will be necessary to meet our customers need and will be expected in this role.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Regularly required to stand.
  • Frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Cut, thread and hammer pipe to specifications, using tools such as saws, cutting torches, pipe threaders and benders.
  • Assemble and secure pipes, tubes, fittings and related equipment, according to specifications, by welding, brazing, cementing, soldering and threading joints.
  • Attach pipes to walls, structures and fixtures, such as radiators or tanks, using brackets, clams, tools or welding equipment.
  • Inspect, examine, and test installed systems and pipelines, using pressure gauge, hydrostatic testing, observation, or other methods.
  • Measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading.
  • Plan pipe system layout, installation, or repair according to specifications.
  • Cross-training in various trades such as millwrighting, pipefitting, welding, sheet metal, civil, etc.
  • Perform duties while assigned to work on millwright, pipefitting, welding, sheet metal, mechanical, and rigging projects.
