About The Position

Our Emerson Plywood and Veneer manufacturing in Emerson, Arkansas has an opening for a skilled Multi-Craft Level 4 with a thorough and comprehensive knowledge of electrical and mechanical equipment, process and techniques to safely repair, modify, install and maintain the facility and high-tech manufacturing equipment. The Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems throughout the manufacturing facility. This position ensures that building environmental systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably to support production processes, employee comfort, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • EPA Section 608 Certification.
  • Minimum of 2 years of HVAC maintenance experience, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, refrigeration systems, electrical controls, and mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Proficient with diagnostic tools and computerized maintenance systems.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work from elevated platforms, and enter confined spaces.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, crouch, and work in varying temperatures for extended periods.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Nice To Haves

  • Technical degree or certification in HVAC, Industrial Maintenance, or related field preferred.
  • Experience maintaining industrial chillers, boilers, cooling towers, and plant air handling systems.
  • Familiarity with PLC controls, building automation systems (BAS), and variable frequency drives (VFDs).
  • Industrial electrical troubleshooting experience.
  • Welding or fabrication experience.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC, refrigeration, and ventilation equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair air handlers, chillers, cooling towers, window units, mini splits, exhaust fans, make-up air units, and associated controls.
  • Monitor and maintain facility temperature, humidity, and air quality systems.
  • Inspect HVAC systems to identify potential failures and recommend corrective actions.
  • Maintain and repair pneumatic, electric, and electronic control systems.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical malfunctions using testing instruments and software.
  • Support energy management and equipment reliability initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and work orders using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and maintenance teams to minimize downtime.
  • Respond to emergency equipment failures during scheduled and off-shift hours as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and plant operating procedures.
  • Assist with contractor oversight during HVAC installations, upgrades, and major repairs.
  • Maintain refrigerant handling certifications and comply with EPA regulations.

Benefits
