About The Position

Elmet Technologies is hiring a Multi-Craft Maintenance Electrician to join their maintenance team in Euclid, Ohio. This is a hands-on industrial maintenance role for someone with strong electrical troubleshooting skills and the mechanical knowledge to work across a wide range of manufacturing equipment and systems. The role involves troubleshooting electrical and mechanical failures, performing preventive maintenance, repairing production equipment, and collaborating with Production and Engineering to improve equipment reliability. The ideal candidate is comfortable opening panels, reading schematics, diagnosing problems, and determining the necessary actions. The company emphasizes that a strong maintenance team aims to understand equipment well enough to find problems earlier, identify root causes, and make improvements to prevent recurrence. This is a hands-on industrial maintenance position where the employee will spend significant time on the manufacturing floor troubleshooting, repairing, inspecting, and maintaining industrial equipment. The role requires comfort with standing and walking for extended periods, working around operating machinery, accessing equipment for repairs, performing repetitive physical tasks, and lifting up to 50 pounds when required. Adherence to required PPE and electrical safety procedures is mandatory.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Industrial electrical and maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Understanding of how manufacturing equipment and processes operate
  • Ability to troubleshoot 24V–480V electrical systems
  • Understanding of PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment
  • Ability to explain and troubleshoot PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, motor controls, servos, and instrumentation
  • Ability to troubleshoot industrial sensors, including photo eyes and proximity sensors
  • Ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics and drawings
  • Working understanding of mechanical systems
  • Comfortable troubleshooting pneumatic and hydraulic equipment
  • Ability to systematically diagnose equipment failures
  • Clear communication with operators, technicians, engineers, and supervisors
  • Ability to work independently when responding to equipment problems
  • Takes electrical and manufacturing safety seriously

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems on industrial production equipment
  • Diagnose and repair 24V–480V electrical systems and safety circuits
  • Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment, including Rockwell PLCs
  • Work with VFDs, HMIs, motor-control systems, servos, and process instrumentation
  • Troubleshoot photo eyes, proximity sensors, and other industrial sensors and controls
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance to identify problems before they cause downtime
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and complete unplanned repairs
  • Troubleshoot and maintain pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Diagnose motors, drives, controls, and other production-equipment components
  • Read and interpret electrical, electronic, and mechanical drawings, prints, and schematics
  • Use diagnostic information to determine the cause of equipment failures
  • Document completed maintenance and repair work
  • Communicate equipment status, problems, and repair needs clearly to Production and leadership
  • Support equipment installations, modifications, and upgrades
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and manufacturing efficiency
  • Follow established electrical, maintenance, and plant safety procedures
