Multi-Cloud Network Engineer (GCP, Azure, & OCI)

Saama Technologies Inc
Onsite

About The Position

We are seeking a Senior Multi-Cloud Network Engineer focused on network modernization, resiliency, and security. Reporting to the Director of Cloud Infrastructure, you will ensure our GCP, Azure, and OCI environments are stable, secure, and agile. Your initial 3 to 6 months will be heavily focused on a discovery and assessment phase to improve network resilience, eliminate single points of failure, and resolve performance issues such as "hair-pinning." Additionally, you will offload daily operational tasks from the core engineering team, ultimately helping to shape our technical future in a multi-cloud landscape alongside internal teams and managed service partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent practical experience with 7+ years in enterprise network engineering roles.
  • Strong foundational understanding of multi-cloud network principles with the agility to traverse GCP, Azure, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, and AWS environments.
  • Proven experience delivering multi-cloud network environments. While our benchmark is 5 years in GCP, 1-3 years in Azure, and 1+ year in OCI, a strong aptitude to learn and fundamental cloud knowledge takes priority over strict tenure.
  • Advanced knowledge of the TCP/IP stack, packet-flow decisions, path determination, and flow manipulation across diverse environments.
  • Deep expertise in GCP service networking constructs (Private Service Access, Private Service Connect, NCC) and equivalent technologies in Azure and OCI.
  • Extensive experience designing and troubleshooting hybrid cloud connections between GCP and Equinix data centers (Dedicated, Partner, and Cross-Cloud Interconnects).
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience utilizing Terraform and Ansible for IaC solutions.
  • Familiarity with managing cloud resources via platform-specific CLIs (Azure CLI, OCI CLI) and scripting (PowerShell, Python).
  • Experience with ITSM and alert management platforms, specifically Jira, ServiceNow, SolarWinds, Science Logic, and DataDog.
  • Understanding of error budgeting and the ability to deliver baseline health monitoring to target specific SLI and SLO measurements.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate technical designs to internal stakeholders, partner teams, and external vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Lead an immediate discovery and assessment of current network environments to identify bottlenecks, improve resilience, and eliminate single points of failure.
  • Design, deploy, and support network architectures across GCP, Azure, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure leveraging cloud-native services (e.g., VPCs, VNets, VCNs, Load Balancers, and Gateways).
  • Partner with the network architecture team to optimize connectivity and establish direct connects that reduce multi-hop performance issues.
  • Manage and optimize hybrid connectivity solutions, particularly Google Cloud Interconnect and Partner Interconnect with Equinix data centers.
  • Automate network infrastructure deployment and manage resources using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) standard platforms, specifically Terraform and Ansible.
  • Implement consistent network security policies and hardening measures across all platforms, including NSI for GCP.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize network performance using SolarWinds, Science Logic, DataDog, and native cloud monitoring tools.
  • Take ownership of operational network tasks and participate in an on-call rotation as an escalation point for production needs.
  • Collaborate with peer groups, the on-premise automation/security team, and managed service providers (MSPs) to drive best-of-breed technical standards.
