Requirements

  • Must complete the 10-hour Virginia Preservice training
  • Must possess a love for children and an ability to relate well with them, their families, and teachers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A positive attitude and work ethic – must be a team player!
  • 6+ months of programmatic experience, working in a licensed and/or accredited child care facility required.
  • Does not have scheduling restrictions between the hours of 6:45 am-6:15 pm

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Child Development, or another child-related field. (assistance available for those who want to further their degree!)
  • Daycare, nanny, summer camp, babysitting, Montessori, and Reggio-Emilio experience welcome!

Responsibilities

  • Running activities when teachers are absent, need breaks or work a part-time schedule.
  • Assist in multiple classrooms to cover for teachers or serve as a permanent substitute for days or weeks depending on what is needed.
  • Managing and supervising groups of four to ten children.
  • Review lesson plans as well as plan, implement, and supervise the daily program for the class while upholding our school's philosophy.
  • Manage the classroom by teaching and playing age-appropriate developmental activities with the class.
  • Following our school's play-approached tactics, ensure the children are excited about learning while engaging in a variety of activities.
  • Arrive to work each day ready to take on any task that is assigned to you.
  • Teaching and assisting in the developmental growth of children.
