About The Position

As an MTS III, Software (Senior Software Engineer), to contribute to the modernization of a critical legacy system and evolve it into a scalable cloud-based platform. In this role, you will contribute to the migration of an existing on-premises application to AWS cloud infrastructure, ensuring reliability, data integrity, and minimal operational disruption during the transition. As the system is modernized, you will help evolve the architecture toward a modern, service-oriented platform that supports large-scale operational workflows and distributed systems. This role requires strong hands-on engineering skills and experience working with both legacy systems and modern cloud-native technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Sciences, Computer Engineering or Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong experience working with PHP-based applications, including maintaining and modernizing legacy codebases.
  • Strong proficiency in AWS cloud services and cloud-based system architecture.
  • At least 5+ years proficiency in at least one modern programming language (such as Go, Java, or Python).
  • Experience designing and operating distributed systems with high reliability requirements.
  • Experience designing and optimizing relational databases and data models.
  • Experience designing and maintaining APIs and system integrations.
  • Familiarity with event-driven architectures, data pipelines, or streaming systems.
  • Experience with containerization, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation.
  • Experience implementing monitoring, logging, and observability practices.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to technical direction.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex production issues.
  • Ability to balance short-term migration goals with long-term platform architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design and execution of the migration of an on-premises system to AWS cloud infrastructure.
  • Modernize and refactor a legacy PHP-based application to support scalable and reliable cloud deployment.
  • Improve system architecture, modularity, and maintainability while preserving compatibility with existing integrations.
  • Optimize database design and data access patterns for performance and scalability.
  • Modernize background processing, scheduled jobs, and batch workloads using cloud-native services.
  • Ensure system reliability, service continuity, and data integrity throughout the migration process.
  • Develop comprehensive testing, validation, and rollback strategies for production deployments.
  • Create operational documentation, migration procedures, and system runbooks
  • Design and build scalable services and APIs that extend the platform’s capabilities.
  • Develop systems that ingest and process operational data and system telemetry.
  • Implement event-driven workflows and automation that improve operational efficiency.
  • Improve system observability, monitoring, and operational reliability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and deliver platform capabilities aligned with long-term architecture goals.

  • Paid time off: Exempt Salaried employees receive unlimited PTO.
