About The Position

As a vital part of the Technology Services Division and the MSU Department, this position will provide support to the Technology Services Division. The MSU Field Technician is responsible for ensuring that all work duties within the Technical Team are coordinated properly and carried out according to established standards. This role involves installing, diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining mobile surveillance units, their wiring, and associated system components. The technician will also conduct site tours, work closely with management to resolve operational and safety concerns, and determine material requirements for projects. The position requires a willingness to travel and perform other assigned duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills to brief managers on installation progress, read blueprints, and follow instructions precisely.
  • Driver's license requirement and ability or competency in towing trailers as needed.
  • High School Diploma, GED or higher.
  • Experience with low-voltage troubleshooting.
  • Clean criminal and driving history, drug screening.
  • PC Proficient.
  • Able to climb ladders.
  • Proficient with hand and power tools and a multimeter.
  • Able to lift 100 pounds.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations using the English language.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations, respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, other employees of the organization and the general public.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to pass a drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Must possess Alarm Tech Level 1 certification or be able to obtain within the first year of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Install, diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain mobile surveillance units, their wiring, and associated system components using basic hand tools and power tools.
  • Conduct site tours of client sites according to client contracts, policy, and procedures.
  • Work closely with Management Staff to resolve immediate operational and/or safety concerns and participates in scheduling and operational programs as directed.
  • Provide a detailed report of replacement parts needed for repairs.
  • Determine material requirements and installation procedures to ensure the completion of projects.
  • Receive work assignments from supervisor, collect tools and materials, and transport materials and tools to work site.
  • Maintain a clean work and storage area.
  • Comply with and adhere to all applicable policies and procedures.
  • Help facilitate training for other employees where applicable.
  • Complete assigned work orders.
  • Assist the Technology Services Division with product demonstration.
  • Willing to travel for TSD contracts.
