About The Position

The MST ASM (Merchandising, Service, and Support Assistant Store Manager) is responsible for leading a team of supervisors and associates to support product categories within their assigned area. This role involves modeling excellent customer service, maintaining product availability, and ensuring a clean and safe store environment. The MST ASM sets and tracks team goals, provides coaching and feedback, manages performance, and drives the execution of various operational programs. They also serve as a primary escalation point for customer complaints and are responsible for store opening and closing procedures, expense control, and maintaining knowledge of industry trends. Additionally, this role focuses on enhancing the Pro customer experience, driving sales, and ensuring safety, security, and shrink prevention. As a Manager-on-Duty (MOD), they provide overall store leadership, manage staffing, and ensure operational efficiency. The role also emphasizes self-leadership through seeking feedback and continuous development.

Requirements

  • 2 Years Experience leading associates in a retail environment
  • 3 Years Experience working in a fast-paced, cross-functional work environment
  • 1 Year Experience performing manager-on-duty responsibilities, including management of daily store operations and processes within and beyond assigned areas of responsibility
  • 1 Year Experience directly managing a team of sales associates (commissioned or non-commissioned) in retail, business-to-business, outside sales, or consumer service industry (Specialty ASM)
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience in retail store freight flow logistics (Operations ASM)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • 5 Years Experience leading service associates in a retail or consumer service industry (Merchandising ASM)

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Interviews, selects, develops, and leads a team of supervisors and associates. Sets clear goals, provides feedback, coaching, and mentorship. Manages associate performance and addresses concerns.
  • Customer Service & Operations: Models behaviors for excellent customer service, in-stock positions, and store safety. Tracks team progress towards goals and removes obstacles.
  • Program Execution: Drives execution of service, reset, pricing, and operational programs. Monitors activities, provides feedback, and makes adjustments. Identifies and communicates barriers to superior service.
  • Expense Control: Controls expenses including payroll and other controllable expenses. Manages payroll hours based on forecasted plans.
  • Sales & Inventory Management: Identifies sales opportunities, gaps in inventory/merchandising, and creates action plans to improve in-stock, sales, and margin performance. Enhances Pro customer experience and drives Pro sales.
  • Safety & Security: Drives a culture of safety, security, and shrink prevention. Ensures store equipment is operated safely and addresses violations. Monitors store security and reports suspicious activity.
  • Manager-on-Duty (MOD): Provides full leadership over the store, driving engagement, customer service, staffing, and operational efficiency. Observes interactions, coaches associates, manages staffing for customer traffic, and validates department readiness.
  • Self-Leadership: Seeks performance feedback, pursues self-development, builds collaborative relationships, and adapts to change.
  • MST Specific Responsibilities: Manages all reset, service, and pricing activity. Supports Live Nursery service and watering. Teaches and demonstrates the Lowe’s selling and service model. Supports Ad Set execution, including endcap and promo space execution and validating promotional signage. Accountable for product location space accuracy through SIMS execution and feedback.
