About The Position

The MSI Youth Organizer is responsible for carrying out Planned Parenthood Texas Votes’ mission and advocacy objectives by engaging new and existing supporters in the fight for reproductive health in Texas. They will work closely with the Raiz Organizing Program staff at PPTV to develop campus programming. This includes developing volunteer leaders and advocates, building and attending campus and community events, and executing effective issue and voter education campaigns.

Requirements

  • Must be working towards a Bachelor’s or Master's degree from a College or University.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships, and work collaboratively, with Planned Parenthood supporters and volunteers, PPTV and affiliate staff, as well as external partners and consultants.
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, deadline-driven team environment.
  • Willing and able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • Licensed driver with access to a reliable, insured vehicle.
  • Deep appreciation for the mission of Planned Parenthood and knowledge of and commitment to other progressive causes.
  • Enjoy meeting and speaking with new people, and sharing with and learning from others.
  • Self-motivated; able to identify priorities and complete work independently.

Nice To Haves

  • Some experience directly related to reproductive rights, public policy, politics, community organizing, movement building, and/ or volunteer management is preferred.
  • Preferably knowledge of Google Drive, Microsoft Office Suite, VAN, and other technical and political organizing tools.

Responsibilities

  • Continue or Start a Planned Parenthood Generation Action on campus.
  • Recruit, train, and activate volunteers on campus to support Planned Parenthood and access to reproductive healthcare by engaging in an advocacy campaign.
  • Meet weekly with the Organizing Manger.
  • Create a work plan with the Organizing Manager to execute field tactics such as campus campaigns, community events (virtual and in-person), and leadership development training.
  • Maintain all data in the Voter Activation Network (VAN), including new supporter sign ups and events.
  • Build meaningful relationships and community partners and with youth-based organizations to further reproductive rights and justice initiatives.
  • Manage, track, and report on chapter monthly activities in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Additional duties, as assigned.
