About The Position

Morgan Stanley's Family Office (MSFO) group partners with Financial Advisors to offer portfolio management services to family office clients within Morgan Stanley Wealth Management. This role serves as an Investment Officer responsible for building and managing client portfolios for Single Family Office clients. The position involves managing asset allocation, manager selection, risk management, and monitoring of client portfolios. A key aspect of the role is sourcing, analyzing, and advising on private markets co-investment deals and other alternative investments. The Investment Officer will also engage with clients for discovery, drafting investment policy statements, and providing quarterly reporting. Additionally, the role ensures the smooth functioning of administrative and operational activities, including those involving outside custodians, trading, reporting, and client cash flows. Collaboration with internal advisors and consultants to acquire new clients and assets, and working with internal research teams for market and portfolio updates are also integral parts of the position. The role requires preparing portfolio allocation and performance reports for client investment committee presentations.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of investment-related experience servicing individuals and families in a wealth management or investment consulting capacity
  • Experience in alternative investments, specifically private equity co-investments
  • Experience and knowledge in investment/wealth management platforms and vehicles, including managed account platforms, mutual funds, ETFs, separate accounts, and alternative investments
  • Experience and knowledge in global capital markets, technical expertise across asset classes
  • Firm understanding of portfolio management concepts including modern portfolio theory, asset allocation, portfolio construction, manager selection, risk management and performance attribution
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Must be very detail-oriented, with an ability to multi-task and handle multiple priorities
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills
  • Proactive & hard working with strong professional accountability
  • Undergraduate degree is required
  • FINRA Series 7 and 66 (or 63 and 65) licenses required or willingness to obtain within 120 days of hire (additional licensing may be required)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with alternative investment asset classes and concentrated equity positions preferred
  • Understanding of UHNW planning techniques and strategies preferred
  • Graduate degree, CFA, CAIA and other professional designations are preferred

Responsibilities
