About The Position

The MS SQL ETL Developer - Tableau will support enterprise application modernization, reporting, data integration, and database development initiatives. The role involves developing Tableau reports, building and optimizing SQL queries, maintaining ETL solutions, and supporting migration of data from legacy systems to modern applications. The developer will collaborate with business analysts, technical teams, system integrators, and end users throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). The position includes designing and maintaining reporting and data workflows; working with SQL Server, DB2, and other relational database platforms; supporting data architecture and modeling; and implementing data quality, reconciliation, migration, and performance optimization processes. The developer will also support SSRS reporting and SOA integration initiatives, maintain technical documentation, and help ensure reliable data flows and error handling. This is a 12-month contract role based in Hartford, Connecticut, with a hybrid work arrangement.

Requirements

10 or more years of relevant IT experience.
5 or more years of hands-on Tableau development experience.
5 or more years of experience writing complex SQL queries.
5 or more years of experience with T-SQL, SSRS, SSIS, or Talend.
Strong expertise in SQL Server, stored procedures, and query optimization.
Experience developing, deploying, and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines.
Experience with data integration, transformation, migration, and reconciliation.
Experience deploying SSIS packages using Git, environment variables, and SQL Server Agent.
Knowledge of relational databases and database architecture.
Experience with version control tools such as Team Foundation Server (TFS).
Strong debugging, analytical, and performance-tuning skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, deploy, and maintain Tableau reports and dashboards.
Develop complex SQL queries, T-SQL scripts, stored procedures, and triggers.
Design and implement ETL/ELT solutions for data ingestion, cleansing, transformation, validation, and distribution.
Develop, deploy, maintain, and optimize SSIS packages and ETL workflows.
Work with relational databases, including SQL Server, DB2, and other database platforms.
Assist with database architecture, data marts, data dictionaries, and logical and physical data models.
Implement data quality, data reconciliation, and discrepancy-resolution processes.
Support legacy data migration, conversion, and integration with modern applications.
Optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, ETL execution, and data-loading performance.
Deploy SSIS packages using Git, environment variables, and SQL Server Agent jobs.
Implement secure file transfers using FTP/SFTP.
Develop advanced reports with dynamic grouping, sorting, drill-down functionality, subreports, cross-tab reports, and summary reporting.
Support SSRS reporting and SOA integration initiatives.
Collaborate with business analysts and end users to gather, validate, and document requirements.
Participate in SDLC activities, including design, development, testing, troubleshooting, deployment, and maintenance.
Validate data flows, implement error handling, and maintain technical documentation.
Apply best practices in data modeling, ETL pipelines, and near-real-time data processing.
