About The Position

This position is for a Middle School Pom Pon Coach. The coach will be responsible for instructing student athletes, developing strategies to improve team play, and fostering a positive school climate. The role requires strong communication, organizational, and motivational skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with administration, staff, and other coaches.

Requirements

Successful coaching experience, preferably at the middle school level.
Background that includes a high level of pom pon knowledge.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of best practices in coaching.
Experience working as part of a collaborative team.
Willingness to meet all Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) course requirements.
Obtain current certification in CPR, First Aid, and AED usage.
Meet requirements for a background check and fingerprinting.

Nice To Haves

HPSD certified professional educators desired but not required. HPSD certified staff will be given first consideration (automatic interview).
Alternate qualifications may be considered.

Responsibilities

Instruct student athletes in large groups, small groups, and individualized settings.
Develop and use strategies to improve individual and team play.
Work cooperatively with administration and staff.
Encourage student participation in the sport.
Utilize classroom discipline strategies while providing positive reinforcement.
Possess strong organizational, motivational, discipline and fundamental teaching skills.
Work with other coaches by supporting and encouraging students to participate in other sports.
Communicate with players, parents, and other coaches.
Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure student success and a positive school climate.
