Portledge School was founded in 1965 and is located on the beautiful North Shore of Long Island. Approximately fifty minutes (28 miles) from NYC by train, Portledge is nestled on a pastoral 63-acre tree-lined campus that is known for its cherry blossoms in spring. Enrolling approximately 525 students in grades PN-12, Portledge offers a competitive college preparatory program in a warm, inclusive community. We seek to inspire our students to realize their individual potential by developing critical thinking skills and moral courage necessary for lifelong learning in an increasingly complex world. Portledge is fully committed to being an anti-racist school and to cultivating a culturally diverse faculty and student body. Portledge is seeking to hire two dynamic Middle School Physical Education Teachers who are driven to create a classroom environment where student learning is a non-negotiable goal and passion is evident on a daily basis. This position will contribute in a variety of ways to school life at Portledge School and report to the Middle School Division Head. Responsibilities include teaching Middle School PE across grades 6 - 8, coaching the equivalent of grades 5-8 during all three athletic seasons, serving as a Middle School Advisor, participating collegially in Middle School Division meetings and Health & Wellness Department meetings and initiatives, and taking an active role in the life of the school community.
