About The Position

This position is for an MS Assistant Boys Basketball Coach (Stipend) at Hiatt. The coach will assist the Head Coach in operating the athletic program, instructing participants in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training. The role emphasizes developing individual and team success, as well as instilling moral values, pride, self-discipline, self-confidence, and sportsmanship in student athletes. The coach will also help align and implement systems and skill development within the athletic program.

Requirements

Valid Iowa Coaching Endorsement or Coaching Authorization
Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
Coaching and/or leadership experience

Nice To Haves

First Aid and CPR
Knowledge of conference rules and regulations
Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)

Responsibilities

Assist the Head Coach in the operation of the athletic program.
Coach and instruct players, individually or in groups, regarding the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport as determined by the head coach.
Follow state, regional, and district regulations governing the athletic program.
Provide proper supervision of athletes at all times.
Participate in organizational meetings for team prospects and encourage potential athletes to join the sport.
Maintain eligibility forms, emergency data cards, equipment inventory, and other related duties as determined by the Head Coach.
Monitor the academic performance of team members to ensure that eligibility requirements are met as determined by the Head Coach.
Model sports-like behavior and maintain appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.
Participate in special activities to include parent’s night, banquets, award nights, and pep assemblies.
Follow and maintain knowledge of all District policies and procedures.
Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
Attend staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance.
Attend work on a prompt and regular basis.
Maintain confidentiality.
Maintain satisfactory and harmonious working relationships with the public, students, and other employees.
Assist with other duties as may be assigned.
