About The Position

Appleseed Community Mental Health Center is seeking a compassionate and motivated MRSS Counselor to provide Mobile Response and Stabilization Services (MRSS) to youth and families experiencing emotional or behavioral crises. This position provides immediate, community-based support designed to stabilize situations, reduce risk, strengthen family functioning, and connect youth to ongoing supports. MRSS services are delivered in homes, schools, and community settings through a trauma-informed, family-centered approach. This role offers meaningful clinical work while allowing you to make an immediate impact on the lives of youth and families in your community.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of child development, trauma-informed care, and family systems
  • Familiarity with DSM and ICD diagnostic criteria
  • Strong crisis intervention, communication, and assessment skills
  • Ability to build rapport quickly with youth and families
  • Strong organizational, time management, and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently in community-based settings
  • Commitment to advocacy, ethical practice, and high-quality client care
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field
  • Current Ohio licensure as LSW, LISW, LPC, or LPCC
  • Valid Ohio driver's license, reliable vehicle, and active auto insurance
  • Ability to travel throughout Ashland and surrounding counties
  • Successful completion of background check, driving record check, and drug screening

Responsibilities

  • Deliver immediate, in-person intervention and safety planning to stabilize emotional and behavioral crises
  • Provide home, school, and community-based services focused on de-escalation, skill building, and safety
  • Provide intensive, time-limited stabilization services to youth and families
  • Facilitate transitions to ongoing mental health and community-based supports
  • Conduct screenings and CANS assessments related to safety, trauma, and other clinical concerns
  • Engage family members and natural supports throughout the stabilization process
  • Promote communication, coping skills, and healthy behavior management strategies
  • Coordinate care with schools, courts, children's services, medical providers, and other community partners
  • Educate families regarding mental health needs, treatment options, and available resources
  • Assist with reducing barriers to treatment and service access
  • Complete timely documentation and outcomes tracking in accordance with agency standards
  • Maintain required certifications, licensure, and training requirements
  • Participate in team meetings, supervision, and agency trainings
  • Meet productivity and billing expectations while maintaining quality care
