About The Position

Echo Lake Foods is a leading manufacturer of ready-to-eat egg products and breakfast foods. In 2025, Echo Lake Foods was acquired by Cal-Maine Foods, Inc., marking an exciting new chapter of growth. The MRO Coordinator is responsible for managing all maintenance, repair, and operating (MRO) inventory, procurement activities, and storeroom operations to support the reliable production of fried egg patties, scrambled eggs, and other egg-based products. This position ensures critical spare parts, consumables, tools, and services are available to maintain equipment uptime, food safety compliance, and production efficiency. The MRO Coordinator serves as a key liaison between Maintenance, Production, Quality Assurance, Sanitation, Engineering, and Purchasing to support preventive maintenance programs, capital projects, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in MRO inventory management, purchasing, maintenance planning, or storeroom operations.
  • Understanding of maintenance and reliability principles.
  • Knowledge of inventory control, purchasing processes, and supply chain management.
  • Experience using CMMS software.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and ERP systems.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and vendor-management abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize work and respond effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of food safety and quality requirements.
  • Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb stairs throughout the workday.
  • Ability to work in production, warehouse, refrigerated, and freezer environments as necessary.
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment (or willingness to become certified).

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Industrial Maintenance, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered.
  • Experience in food manufacturing, food processing, dairy, protein, or consumer packaged goods manufacturing preferred.
  • Experience supporting automated production equipment and processing systems is highly desirable.
  • Food processing equipment including egg breakers, mixers, blenders, cookers, fryers, conveyors, packaging systems, metal detectors, pumps, compressors, boilers, refrigeration systems, and sanitation equipment.
  • Lean Manufacturing, TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Reliability-centered maintenance and spare parts optimization programs

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate inventory levels of spare parts, maintenance supplies, tools, and operating consumables.
  • Establish and manage minimum and maximum inventory levels for critical production equipment.
  • Conduct cycle counts, physical inventories, and inventory audits to ensure accuracy.
  • Organize and maintain the MRO storeroom using established inventory control and 5S practices.
  • Monitor inventory usage trends and identify opportunities to reduce excess and obsolete inventory.
  • Ensure all spare parts and materials are properly labeled, stored, and documented.
  • Create and manage purchase requisitions and purchase orders for maintenance parts and services.
  • Source and procure parts from approved vendors while balancing cost, quality, and availability.
  • Expedite critical orders to minimize equipment downtime during breakdown events.
  • Maintain supplier relationships and evaluate vendor performance.
  • Obtain quotes and negotiate pricing for parts, equipment, and maintenance services.
  • Coordinate repair or refurbishment of high-value components when appropriate.
  • Collaborate with maintenance technicians and planners to ensure required parts are available for preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Maintain equipment Bills of Materials (BOMs) and critical spare parts lists within the CMMS.
  • Support planned shutdowns, major repairs, and capital projects by coordinating materials and resources.
  • Identify critical spare parts needed to support plant reliability objectives.
  • Assist in improving maintenance planning and scheduling processes.
  • Ensure all maintenance materials, lubricants, and chemicals meet food-grade and regulatory requirements when applicable.
  • Support compliance with GMPs, HACCP, SQF, USDA, FDA, and company quality standards.
  • Maintain required documentation and records for audits and inspections.
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of hazardous materials and chemicals.
  • Participate in food safety, quality, and workplace safety programs.
  • Maintain accurate records within the CMMS and ERP systems.
  • Track inventory accuracy, stock-out incidents, purchase order status, and MRO spending.
  • Generate reports and metrics related to inventory performance and maintenance support.
  • Analyze inventory trends and recommend improvements to inventory management practices.
  • Support budgeting activities related to maintenance materials and supplies.
