Under the direction of a radiologist, with minimum supervision, maintain the daily function of the MRI department. This role requires initiating correct scanning protocols, advising patients on contrast injections, preparing patients for scans, operating scanning equipment, and monitoring patient conditions. The technologist will also be responsible for maintaining equipment, transferring scans to PACS, and ensuring films are prepared for physicians. Additionally, the role involves familiarity with life support equipment, responding to emergencies, and performing patient transfers. A key aspect of the role is ensuring patient safety and compatibility with MRI procedures, including researching biomedical implants and addressing any discrepancies in orders or patient history. The technologist must also prepare the room and equipment for scans and communicate effectively with patients of all types. The position includes rotating on-call duties, the ability to work independently, and flexibility in shifts. Maintaining a clean and orderly department and cooperating with all personnel are also essential.
