About The Position

Compass Government Solutions is seeking a qualified MRI Technologist to support the Defense Health Agency (DHA) at Guthrie Ambulatory Health Clinic located on Fort Drum, New York. The MRI Technologist will provide high-quality diagnostic imaging services to active-duty military personnel, retirees, and their dependents while supporting military readiness and patient-centered care. The selected candidate will perform magnetic resonance imaging procedures, ensure patient safety, maintain compliance with military treatment facility (MTF) policies, and collaborate with radiologists and healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional diagnostic services.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an academic program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). OR High School Diploma or equivalent, completion of a JRCERT-accredited Radiologic Technology program, and successful completion of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) MRI certification examination.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross equivalent.
  • Current ARRT Certification in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).
  • Current registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) as: Diagnostic Radiographer (R), and MRI Technologist (MR).
  • Must be a United States Citizen.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience performing MRI procedures in a hospital, outpatient imaging center, military treatment facility, or comparable healthcare environment.
  • Experience working with electronic medical records and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS).
  • Strong understanding of MRI safety standards and quality assurance procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Operate MRI equipment to obtain high-quality diagnostic images while adhering to MRI safety standards and minimizing Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) exposure.
  • Perform routine and specialized MRI examinations in accordance with established protocols.
  • Review MRI screening forms and conduct safety screening for patients and personnel entering MRI Zone 4.
  • Position patients appropriately and make technical adjustments necessary to obtain optimal imaging results.
  • Determine and implement any required patient preparation prior to imaging procedures.
  • Process, evaluate, and transmit digital images for radiologist interpretation.
  • Ensure appropriate image series are submitted according to facility protocols.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in accordance with MTF and departmental policies.
  • Monitor patients during imaging procedures and identify adverse reactions to contrast media or other complications.
  • Respond appropriately to medical emergencies, including initiating life-saving measures when necessary.
  • Perform quality assurance, calibration, and quality control procedures as directed by facility and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Identify imaging artifacts, equipment malfunctions, and technical issues; notify appropriate personnel and initiate repair procedures when required.
  • Coordinate with Biomedical Repair personnel and Radiology leadership regarding equipment concerns.
  • Provide MRI safety education and training to clinic staff and Fort Drum Fire Department personnel as needed.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable DHA, Department of Defense (DoD), MTF, and Radiology Department policies and procedures.
