About The Position

The MRI Technologist is responsible for ensuring patient safety and producing high-quality Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) studies. This role requires effective communication with patients, staff, and radiologists, and may include training new technologists and/or patient coordinators as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Active ARRT (R), ARRT (MR), or ARMRIT certification
  • Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • 1–2 years of MRI experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal abilities
  • Excellent telephone skills and professional etiquette
  • Always maintains confidentiality
  • Knowledge of infection control, sterile technique, and basic clinical safety precautions
  • Ability to use and apply medical terminology appropriately
  • Service-oriented mindset
  • Ability to relate sensitively and compassionately to patient needs

Responsibilities

  • Ensure patient safety, including thorough pre-screening for MRI contraindications and proper aseptic injection techniques
  • Produce high-quality diagnostic MRI images
  • Position patients using appropriate immobilization and protective equipment to comply with safety regulations and ensure patient/staff safety
  • Conduct MRI safety screenings prior to procedure performance
  • Start IVs and administer contrast media as directed and according to protocol
  • Evaluate MRI scans for technical quality and accuracy
  • Manage supplies, assist with daily cleaning of MRI unit, and support patient transport preparation
  • Communicate effectively with patients, staff, and radiologists
  • Train new technologists and/or patient coordinators as assigned
  • Coordinate scheduling logistics and assist with patient flow to optimize efficiency
  • Conduct MRI safety screenings prior to procedure performance by identifying and mitigating potential hazards related to magnetic fields, equipment, and patient conditions within the MRI environment.
