About The Position

The MRI Technologist administers image scans on patients to produce quality images of the designated areas of the body. This role involves operating MRI scanners, maintaining equipment, and ensuring patient safety and comfort during procedures. The technologist must be knowledgeable in cross-sectional anatomy, pathology, and medical terminology, as well as skilled in starting IVs and administering contrast. The position requires the ability to work independently and collaboratively, maintain effective working relationships, and adhere to established protocols. The technologist will also be responsible for following up with patients after procedures and anticipating potential complications related to IV contrast.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED.
  • Six to twelve months related experience/training.
  • Completion of ARRT program.
  • Registered as an MRI Technologist.
  • Licensed in the state of Virginia.
  • CPR Certified.
  • Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, pathology, and medical terminology.
  • Knowledge in starting IVs and administration of contrast.
  • Skill in communicating clearly with diverse publics.
  • Skill in excellent customer service.
  • Skill in using MRI machine.
  • Ability to work scheduled hours as defined in the job offer.
  • Ability to establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.
  • Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions and follow written protocols.
  • Ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Operates the MRI scanner to produce 3-D images.
  • Maintains the MRI scanning equipment in good operating order.
  • Cleans and maintains the CAT room.
  • Responsible for following up with patient after procedures.
  • Responsible for anticipating potential patient complications regarding IV contrast.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.
  • Ability to work between Newport News and Williamsburg offices.
