The MRI Technologist must have enhanced knowledge in the area of MRI, possessing the specific expertise and skills necessary for maintaining a safe MRI environment daily. They must understand basic anatomy, physiology, and physics as it pertains to MRI patient care. This role involves providing imaging services and transportation to patients of all ages, from neonate to geriatric, and ensuring thorough explanations and adequate communication with patients and their families. The technologist is responsible for upholding all safety standards, following established protocols, and observing JCAHO standards. Prioritizing customer and patient satisfaction using AIDET principles and collaborating with other departments are key aspects of the role. The technologist will also utilize I Care principles for proper patient identification and exam accuracy, practice good stewardship of resources, and adhere to MRI zone safety and screening processes. Knowledge of MR language, scheduling, and administering contrast/medications according to policy is required. The role involves correlating clinical history with exams, participating in MRI QC, maintaining accreditation, and managing inventory and supplies. They will also instruct and supervise students and new employees, and may be assigned call duties. Charge techs or lead techs will coordinate services, act as a contact person, and inform other shifts of changes. Per Diem staff have specific holiday and availability requirements. The technologist must function proficiently with little or no supervision and adhere to DCH Standards, including performance, patient and employee satisfaction, financial standards, compliance, and behavioral standards. They must ensure the safety of patients, visitors, and employees by identifying and reducing unsafe practices and risks. Use of electronic mail, time and attendance software, learning management software, and intranet is required, along with adherence to all DCH Health System policies and procedures.
