This role is responsible for obtaining high-quality diagnostic images using high-field magnetic resonance equipment, which are essential for developing patient treatment plans. Requirements

  • MRI Technologist Certification through ARRT or ARMRIT
  • Knowledge of MRI and radiology safety procedures and protocols
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA regulations/procedures
  • Experience using computer systems and applications, including radiology software
  • Experience communicating effectively with patients, physicians and other medical staff

Responsibilities

  • Performs MRI procedures by operating high-field magnetic resonance equipment to produce detailed diagnostic images, selecting appropriate imaging techniques and ensuring optimal image quality.
  • Prepares and screens patients for safety, explains procedures, and positions patients using proper immobilization and protective measures to maintain compliance with safety standards.
  • Maintains accurate documentation in electronic medical records and PACS, supports quality control and assurance initiatives, and ensures the radiology department is clean, stocked, and operating efficiently.
  • Operates high field strength magnets and related equipment to produce radiographic images of patients’ specific body parts.
  • Operates a Magnetic Resonance (MR) scanner to obtain images used by physicians, determine appropriate imaging techniques, and operate console and peripheral hardware.
  • Screens patients for MR safety, explains the MRI process and addresses patient concerns prior to performing scanning.
  • Positions patients for MR scans using immobilization and protective equipment to comply with government regulations and ensure patient and staff safety.
  • Evaluates MR scans for technical quality, collates processed images and sequence of exposure and labels appropriately.
  • Documents imaging performed, appropriate charges and other necessary information in patients’ electronic medical records and Patient Archive Communication System (PACS).
  • Maintains quality control measures in accordance with American College of Radiology guidelines.
  • Follows quality assurance guidelines including positioning, markers, demographics, and coning to ensure optimal images before releasing image to physician.
  • Prepares radiology department daily including cleaning, stocking, and sanitizing work areas and equipment.
