About The Position

UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital is seeking a full-time MRI Technologist to join their team. This role involves performing MRI procedures while adhering to MR safety guidelines, interacting with patients and colleagues with a high level of care, and ensuring accurate documentation and coding. The department specializes in women's MRI imaging using a state-of-the-art Siemens Vida 3T MRI scanner. New graduates are encouraged to apply as training will be provided. Requirements

  • Graduate of an ARRT-approved school of Radiologic Technology, or completion of an accredited CNMT, ARMRIT, or ARDMS program.
  • ARRT registry eligible technologists must obtain ARRT within 6 months of hire date.
  • MR registry must be acquired within 18 months of the date the primary registry was acquired, or date of hire if primary registry is already obtained.
  • CNMT, ARDMS, and ARMRIT graduates must obtain MR registry within 12 months of hire date.
  • ARRT Certificate OR American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARMRIT) OR Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification (NMTC) OR Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Performs MRI procedures while practicing MR safety guidelines.
  • Prior to the start of exam, reads and presents all relevant information to the physician based on protocol and identifies all patients properly by using two identifiers.
  • Labels, prepares, and administers contrast.
  • Reviews patient history, assesses physician orders, and documents patient history in electronic record, as required.
  • Ensures all exams are properly coded and tracked, all patient information is updated and documented, all exams are properly networked, and all charges are adequately entered appropriately.
  • Interacts with both patients and coworkers while displaying a high level of caring, listening, dignity, and respect.
  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate instructions to patients in a clear and concise manner, and the ability to explain procedures to help allay the patients’ fears and solicit their cooperation.
