About The Position

This position performs MRI procedures at a technical level in accordance with protocols. The role requires competency in all equipment operation and applications, the ability to troubleshoot, and knowledge of regulatory requirements relating to MRI exams and equipment. The technologist will also obtain comprehensive patient histories, perform screenings, start IVs, administer contrast, and maintain accurate patient records. Additionally, the role involves establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and leadership teams, as well as participating in tech and student training and MRI safety training. The technologist will also assist in developing new protocols or MR Imaging techniques.

Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor's degree from an accredited Radiology program.
  • ARRT registered; with required competencies and certification in MRI, or eligible to sit for certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Maintains current OBMI licensure and has qualifications and experience determined to be adequate by Director of department and lead technologist to operate equipment and evaluate images obtained.
  • Medium to very heavy physical demand (lifting and moving patients 100 to 300 lbs)
  • Must be able to work independently as well as with patients, hospital staff, and physicians.
  • Competency in all equipment operation and applications and the ability to troubleshoot.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year or more experience in MRI
  • Certs: Current OBMI and ARRT licenses with specialty in MRI

Responsibilities

  • Perform MRI procedures at a tech level in accordance with protocols.
  • Maintain proper quality control procedures.
  • Must have knowledge of regulatory requirements relating to MRI exams and equipment.
  • Must be able to obtain a comprehensive history, perform screenings, start IV’s, and administer contrast.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationship with patients, medical staff and leadership teams.
  • Maintain a safe and appropriate work area.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies.
  • Adhere to Sky Lakes work practices and policies.
  • Knowledge of basic patient care and activities that may be necessary during exam.
  • Attend required meetings and participate in committees as requested.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Work as a team member within the imaging department and all other departments.
  • Document work processes as required.
  • Maintain education to stay current with technologies and best practices.
  • Participate in tech and student training, as well as MRI safety training.
  • Maintain accurate patient records in PACS and EMR systems.
  • Assist in developing new protocols or MR Imaging techniques.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
