As an integral part of the Imaging Services Team, the Magnetic Resonance Technologist provides support for the radiologists by performing highly specialized MRI studies in the MRI department and the Operating Room. Provides related work as required. The MRI technologist performs basic and complex MR imaging procedures and may be assigned post-processing responsibilities. The MRI technologist must demonstrate an understanding of human cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology and medical terminology. The candidate must maintain a high degree of accuracy in participant positioning and image acquisition/formation. He/she must maintain knowledge about magnetic field safety and properly screen all participants and visitors prior to admittance into the MR magnet room. The technologists prepares and administers paramagnetic contrast media in accordance with department policy, and state and federal regulations, maintaining accurate up-to-date records of procedures performed; ensuring accurate processing of radiology orders and exercises strict confidentiality.
