This role involves collaboration with radiologists and staff regarding patient testing and strict adherence to MRI safety practices. On-call duties are required as determined by the department.</p> <p>Key responsibilities include assisting in the diagnosis and treatment of patients across all age groups (neonate to geriatric). The technologist will acquire tomographic images using MRI equipment, accurately prepare and position patients, and select appropriate technical parameters. Ensuring the prompt submission of high-quality images and documents to PACS, along with performing patient pre-screening, scheduling, and education, are crucial. Maintaining a clean and orderly department, including procedure rooms and dressing areas, is also part of the role. Additionally, the technologist will perform contrast injections under direct supervision and undertake additional duties as needed by the department.</p> <p>Minimum qualifications include a High School Diploma/GED and a Specialized Diploma from an accredited Radiology program. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to handle medical and confidential information ethically, maintain maturity and exercise judgment when working with patients and equipment, and communicate clearly in written and oral forms. Technical data interpretation skills are essential. Required certifications include American Heart Association Basic Life Support and RT - Registered Technologist Radiology upon hire. Alternatively, MR - Magnetic Resonance Imaging ARRT or ARMRIT - Registered Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist must be obtained within one year of hire.</p> <p>Preferred qualifications include knowledge of insurance benefit and eligibility websites, as well as medical insurance terminology.</p> <p>Physical demands involve lifting and carrying 40-50 lbs, pushing/pulling patients on beds or stretchers (requiring 29 lbs of push force), and performing lateral transfers up to 50 lbs of patient weight. Frequent to continuous standing and walking are expected, with patient transporters potentially walking 8-10 miles per shift. Patient care providers may also need to perform kneeling, bending, squatting, and CPR. The work environment is onsite at Lehigh Valley Hospital- Hazleton, with a weekend shift schedule of 12 hours (7a-7p). This is a full-time, onsite position.
