About The Position

Provides quality patient care when performing diagnostic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention while adhering to MRI safety principles. This is a PRN position for 12 or 10-hour night shifts, used for covering PTO, leaves of absence, and overflow. The role involves performing diagnostic imaging, exercising professional judgment, delivering appropriate care, and complying with all relevant regulations and Orlando Health's mission. Key responsibilities include assessing patient conditions and age-specific needs, providing instructions for cooperation, performing proper patient identification and documenting clinical history, positioning patients and equipment for optimal imaging, assessing image quality, applying MRI safety principles, adhering to Quality Control standards, administering contrast medication (with or without power injectors), performing venipuncture, evaluating IV access, administering medical aid for adverse reactions or emergencies, applying standard precautions and PPE, assisting in the supervision of students and new technologists, utilizing radiology computer systems effectively, ensuring customer safety, and maintaining regular attendance and compliance with policies.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited school of Radiologic Technology OR,
  • Graduate of accredited school of Sonography OR,
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nuclear Medicine OR,
  • Graduate of an approved MRI technologist program through American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT)
  • Must have one (1) of the following: Valid American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification OR, Valid American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification OR, Valid Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) certification OR, Valid American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) certification (MRI) or Graduate of an approved MRI technologist program through American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT)
  • Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Mandatory minimum of two (2) years MRI experience and experience in one or more of the following areas: Advanced imaging experience and proficiency, including 3D Lab, IR procedural imaging, Breast imaging or Cardiac imaging.
  • Site proctor/preceptor for onboarding new hires and cross-training.
  • Primary responsibility: Dual imaging roles, with current proficiency and routinely performing in secondary modality

  • Performs proper patient identification, acquires patient’s clinical history, and assures that the information is accurately documented.
  • Positions patient, equipment, associated devices, and manipulates technical factors to achieve high quality images for interpretation.
  • Assesses diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that all relative anatomy is demonstrated.
  • Applies principles of MRI safety to patients, self, and others.
  • Comprehends and complies with Quality Control standards and participates in all Quality Control tasks.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in contrast medication administration with and without use of power injectors.
  • Performs venipuncture and evaluates IV access for the purpose of contrast administration as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  • Administers medical aid as required in cases of adverse reactions to contrast medication and/or other emergencies.
  • Applies appropriate standard precautions and personal protective equipment to prevent cross-contamination of contagious diseases.
  • Assists in supervision of student technologists and training of new technologists.
  • Utilizes all Corporate Radiology computer systems effectively and accurately.
  • Ensures safety of all customers.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains cleanliness of work area and equipment.
  • Maintains well-stocked and organized work areas.
  • May be required to work at any facility.
  • Provides patient transport.
