This job performs prescribed radiographic imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. Competently performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment and initiative. The MRI Technologist Chief will perform management responsibilities including hiring and termination decisions, coaching and development, rewards and recognition, performance management, and staff productivity. They will plan, organize, staff, direct, and control the day-to-day operations of the department, develop and implement policies and programs as necessary, and may have budgetary responsibility and authority. This role also acts as a mentor for new staff, uses technical expertise to improve staff performance, and assists in the management of human resources, staff/equipment schedules, payroll, and non-labor expenses. The Chief MRI Technologist will maintain a quality assurance program according to regulations, position patients and select parameters for MRI imaging, prepare for and assist physicians during procedures, and prepare contrast media. They will implement MRI safety and patient safety standards, provide technical expertise for protocol development, and standardize imaging protocols. This role is responsible for maintaining safe MRI operation, assessing risk of implanted devices, and collaborating with the MR Safety Expert and MR Medical Director. Additionally, they will assure completion of all required documentation for quality control, equipment maintenance, procedures, and regulatory compliance. The Chief MRI Technologist will maintain ACR certification and registries (if applicable), and implement and educate staff on all imaging institute policies, procedures, guidelines, and quality initiatives for the MRI modality.
