About The Position

Performs and documents daily system quality control (QC) checks in compliance with departmental policies and regulatory requirements. Stays current with evolving MR safety standards and participating in ongoing education to support departmental safety culture. Prepares and administers IV contrast material following safety guidelines and monitors patients for adverse reactions. Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time-out procedures prior to starting exams. Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems. Educates patients and family members about MRI procedures, contrast use, and safety precautions, promoting comfort and cooperation throughout the exam. Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks. Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low. Performs high-quality MRI examinations in accordance with physician orders and departmental protocols to ensure diagnostic image quality and patient safety. Reviews patient history and clinical information to confirm exam appropriateness and identify potential contraindications (e.g., implanted devices, metal, claustrophobia, contrast allergies). Screens all patients, staff, and equipment for MRI safety compliance per facility policy and current safety standards, including completion of required screening documentation. Operates all imaging equipment safely and properly, including scanners, injectors, and monitors, adapting protocols for patients of all ages. Positions patients accurately and comfortably using appropriate immobilization and coil placement techniques to ensure high-quality imaging. Provides education and support related to MR safety, including device clearance processes, conditional implant screening, and staff training. Leads or participates in MRI safety incident investigations, performing root cause analysis and recommending corrective actions when applicable. Other duties as assigned.
