About The Position

Raleigh Radiology is seeking a dedicated MRI Tech Assistant to join our team at our freestanding outpatient imaging centers in Wake County, NC, and the surrounding areas. This role involves providing patient-centered care, working with cutting-edge technology, and being part of a collaborative healthcare team. There are opportunities for growth, including mammography certification or cross-training in other modalities.

Requirements

  • High school / GED graduate.
  • No prior experience required.
  • BLS is required within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Outgoing personality, professional appearance, and able to quickly assess and react to unexpected situations.
  • Attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Organizes the movement of patients from the main waiting room to sub-waiting rooms.
  • Assists patients who need help dressing/undressing, toileting, etc.
  • Explains procedures to patients in layman's terms and answers questions within his/her scope.
  • Assists patients who have difficulty ambulating. Provides wheelchair assistance to and from auto, if necessary.
  • Maintains constant oversight of various waiting and dressing areas to ensure safety of patients.
  • Responsible for maintenance of all patient waiting areas – keeps all areas clean, neat, hazard-free.
  • Stocks sufficient amount of linen in patient care areas.
  • Removes soiled linen to appropriate storage closet.
  • Maintains standards of professional care.
  • Implements policies and procedures of Raleigh Radiology.
  • Assesses patient’s condition (physical and psychosocial); prioritizes needs.
  • Reports and records pertinent observations to appropriate personnel.
  • Assists with specific tests and procedures as needed and within scope.
  • Participates in economic utilization of supplies.
  • Assures that equipment is always maintained and available for use.
  • Assists coworkers and physicians in giving care to patients.
  • Establishes and maintains open communication.
  • Assists with / or institutes emergency measures for sudden adverse occurrences in patients.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment for patients and staff.
  • Stocks various areas with necessary supplies – paper, contrast, magazines, etc.
  • On a regular, sustained basis, cooperates with other staff members in the accomplishment of own job duties as well as assisting others in accomplishing theirs; serves as a team player and role model for other employees in the organization, always exhibiting traits of courtesy, caring, helpfulness, and respect; conducts oneself in a service-oriented manner that is attentive, pleasant, cooperative, sensitive, respectful, and kind when dealing with team members, visitors, public and all employees.
  • Delivers oral contrast and drinking instructions to CT patients.
  • Scans documents and completes studies in RIS with notes and directions from technologists.
  • Sets up and assists in IV starts and power injector loading and assesses patients during IV contrast delivery.
  • Assists with positioning and immobilization for patients as needed.
  • Maintains supply par levels, communicates supply needs to leadership, and assists in the distribution of supplies when delivered for all modalities.
  • Calls referrers to clarify orders, request orders, and provide results; Maintains all communication with referrers in RIS.
  • Performs other duties and accepts responsibility, as assigned.
  • Adheres to all Medical Records policies and procedures.
  • Imports incoming images for comparison.
  • Requests prior from other facilities for comparison.
  • Returns before the lending facility or the patient.
  • Packages and sends medical records to requesting offices or for patient pickup.
