About The Position

The MRI Tech Aide assists the MRI Technologist with patient preparation, exam setup, and related administrative and room-maintenance tasks. The aide follows applicable policies, procedures, and protocols to support patient safety, helps prepare the exam room and equipment, and assists patients before, during, and after their exam. The role also supports completion and organization of paperwork and prior exams, tech data entry, and cleaning and stocking exam rooms. The incumbent may perform work of a lower or equivalent classification as required or directed, and higher-classification work for training and development or when situationally warranted.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
CPR certification required.
Excellent interpersonal skills required.
Must be able to assist patients with mobility difficulties.
Must be able to push, pull, and lift at least 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

Follow proper policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure patient safety.
Assist the Technologist with setting up the room, selecting the appropriate coil, ensuring clean linen is available, and making helpful items available for patient setup.
Assist with the patient interview, including the safety checklist, symptoms and history, and determining whether prior exams exist.
Ensure the patient is properly dressed for the exam, explain the procedure, and reassure patients who are anxious.
Help position patients for the exam, assist them onto the table, ensure safety devices are in place, and help them remain comfortable.
Assist the Technologist after the exam by helping remove the patient from the bore, removing safety equipment, and helping the patient off the table and to the changing area.
Assist with checking that paperwork is complete and obtaining prior paperwork and pertinent exams.
Help ensure prior exams are available on the appropriate workstation.
Assist with tech data entry.
Assist with cleaning and stocking exam rooms.
