About The Position

We're seeking a supervisor to guide our MRI imaging team in a collaborative and supportive workplace environment. The MRI Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily MRI Department operations, ensuring efficiency, safety and compliance with all regulations.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques associated with MRI to direct and backup the activities of staff.
  • Knowledge of MRI equipment to determine needs and evaluate equipment for purchase.
  • Knowledge of MRI safety requirements to provide instructions and to recognize and correct hazardous conditions.
  • Starts IV’s or butterfly catheters for intravenous contrast injections.
  • Ability to anticipate and react calmly to emergency situations.
  • Capable of writing reports and preparing correspondence.
  • Capable of developing and maintaining QC/QA program for MRI.
  • Capable of providing guidance, instruction and mentoring to MRI staff and students.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems always using good judgment.
  • Capable of clear and concise communication.
  • Ability to operate RIS system, EPIC EMR, PACS Change (McKesson), Qgenda, PenRad and scheduling software.
  • Ability to evaluate utilization statistics and other data to make recommendations.
  • Ability to determine budgetary needs and maintain expenditures within budget.
  • Able to properly position and image MRI patients to provide quality imaging services.
  • Capable of trouble shooting MRI and related equipment and perform simple adjustments.
  • Ability to apply written guidelines and standardized work practices.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; and, Completion of an accredited radiologic technology or MRI educational program.
  • Five years of experience as an MRI Technologist.
  • Five years of supervisory experience including administrative and budgetary duties.
  • Current Radiography and MRI certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Current license with the New Mexico Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Program.
  • Current CPR certification or obtained within three months of date of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Performs the duties of an MRI Technologist; maintains and utilizes technical skills at an optimal level.
  • Direct oversight of MRI services; ensures quality and timeliness in accordance with clinic and governmental standards.
  • Responsible for maintaining compliance with accreditation, legal and other regulatory requirements.
  • Provides immediate supervision to all MRI personnel assigned. Completes annual performance evaluations within the required timeline. Ensures all policies and procedures are followed and provides corrective action if necessary.
  • Consistently reviews MRI department performance, promoting and providing the highest level of patient care and safety possible; makes recommendations for improvement as needed.
  • Oversight for all aspects of MRI quality control and quality assurance standards.
  • In conjunction with the Radiologist(s) and/or Clinical Services Manager, develops and implements MRI protocols and exam preps.
  • Maintains and inspects MRI equipment and contacts service personnel for repair and maintenance as needed. Facilitates necessary regulatory inspections of MRI equipment and related materials.
  • Participates with the acquisition process for new MRI equipment and/or clinical/technical supplies; maintains sufficient inventory of all clinical/technical supplies while adhering to established budget. Suggests budget improvements when warranted.
  • Coordinates and maintains the technical schedules for MRI personnel as needed; responsible for always facilitating appropriate coverage. Reviews utilization of MRI staff and reassigns and/or flexes MRI personnel as required.
  • Communicates effectively with staff, patients, and visitors. Maintains a strong rapport with outside affiliates and referring providers. Collaborates with and supports Presbyterian, PMG and PHS delivery systems as needed.
  • Assists with the development of the clinical/technical budget as it relates to staffing and capital expenses; ensures MRI operations fall within allocated funds based on budget.
  • Participates with professional development activities; attends required meetings and actively participates with committees as assigned.
  • Works in a cooperative and team-oriented manner; meets with leadership to evaluate initiatives, processes, patient satisfaction goals, and quality/safety concerns.
  • Maintains required certifications and licenses. Adheres to the ARRT's Standard of Ethics.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
  • Position may include extended hours, after-hours, or weekend work, or call as required.
