MRI Specialty Technologist, Medical Imaging – Temporary Full-Time (0.8) (until April 2027)

The Medical Imaging Patient Service Unit is expanding and seeking dynamic individuals to join the MR team. This role involves providing exceptional patient care across various clinical cases, including neuro, musculoskeletal, abdominal, and cardiac imaging. The technologist will collaborate with radiologists, sedation staff, technologists, and anesthesia for anesthetic patients. Responsibilities include performing scans, ensuring magnet safety, maintaining accurate records, troubleshooting equipment, and staying updated on medical imaging trends. Participation in shift rotations, on-call coverage, and potentially teaching student technologists may be required.
Requirements
- CMRITO current registration (Essential)
- Completion of a post diploma in MR or recognized equivalent with MRI Certification or completion within 6 months of hire (Essential)
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification (Essential)
- Computer literacy (Essential)
- Effective time management skills; ability to organize work and set priorities (Essential)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (Essential)
- Ability to work effectively as a team member, as well as work as an autonomous professional (Essential)
- Ability to work accurately under stressful conditions, to be patient and family focused with customer service orientation
- Available to work on call/stand by/week-end/holidays as required (Essential)
- Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) (Essential)
Nice To Haves
- 3 years pediatric radiography experience (Preferred)
- OARMS registration (Preferred)
- Cross sectional anatomy course (Preferred)
- Bilingual (English/French) (Preferred)
Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional patient care in a variety of clinical cases which include neuro, musculoskeletal, abdominal and cardiac imaging.
- Liaise with the radiologists, sedation area staff, technologists and anaesthesia for anaesthetic patients.
- Perform scans on a variety of clinical cases which include neuro, musculoskeletal, abdominal and cardiac.
- Responsible for magnet safety for patients and staff.
- Maintaining accurate computer and image records with all relevant and required patient and exam information.
- Trouble shooting and ensuring that medical imaging and ancillary equipment are performing in an effective and efficient manner.
- Keep abreast of current trends and new developments in Medical Imaging.
- Will be required to participate in all shift rotations and on call coverage.
- May also be required to participate in teaching student technologists.
- Any other duties as required.
