About The Position

Assists the Department Director and Coordinator in all daily departmental operations. Performs duties directly involved with producing high quality Magnetic Resonance Images; Responsible for ensuring quality control checks are performed daily. Selects proper coils for the various procedures requested; Calls for repairs and reports to supervisor, House Supervisor, ER’s and inpatient floors when M.R.I. unit is not working properly; Responsible for ensuring all MR techs are properly trained in screening patients prior to procedure and ensures there are no contraindications; Responsible to ensure any changes or new protocols are disiminated and followed; Evaluates all orders, verifies them with radiologist if needed, and ensures correct exam is performed. Properly screens all patients to ensure there are no contraindications for IV contrast. Responsible for interacting with hospital staff and/or nursing departments regarding patient care, concerns, and conflicts by identifying and assisting in the resolutions. Responsible and accountable for maintaining performance skills. Routinely works weekends, holidays, overtime, and/or on an on-call/call-back status, when needed. Requirements

  • 5 years prior Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Radiographer experience preferred.
  • Membership in related professional organization preferred.
  • ARRT Certification (M) in Magnetic Resonance Imaging preferred
  • Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS’s Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer.
  • Graduate from an approved school in Radiologic Technology.
  • Currently licensed as a MRT and certified through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) as a Radiographer (R) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (M) OR must become registered in MRI within the first year.
  • Licensed as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) in the State of Texas)
  • Must have and maintain current BLS certification, according to unit specific needs. Certification must be in accordance with the curriculum of the AHA, for Healthcare Provider’s Program.
  • Minimum experience of performing extremities, thorax, abdomen, spine, skull exams. Some of these exams may be performed as portables.
  • Familiarized with utilizing a C-Arm
  • BCLS on hire
  • Able to train others in Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
  • Proficient with power injectors for PICC lines, peripheral lines and thorough knowledge of MRA procedures.
  • Able to perform various parts of the body from head to lower extremities.
  • Familiarized with contraindications for contrast or foreign objects in the body.
  • Able to utilize critical thinking to ensure the proper procedure is being performed.
