The MRF Maintenance Mechanic I performs routine inspections and maintenance of sorting lines to ensure safe and efficient operations. This role involves troubleshooting and resolving equipment issues, completing facility maintenance tasks, and collaborating with other departments to improve processes and safety standards.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum three plus years prior experience in industrial maintenance, mechanic shop or fabrication shop.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs.
  • Ability and willingness to work in outdoor environments with exposure to varying weather conditions, dust, odors, noise, and other environmental factors.
  • Ability to follow directions and learn new tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a Material Recovery Facility or similar environment preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical issues on conveyors, screens, balers, and other machinery used in the Troubleshooting and resolution of these issue can include; mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on all sorting equipment to reduce the risk of equipment failure and minimize downtime.
  • Monitor equipment performance and make adjustments to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory through the provided company software.
  • Collaborate with operations staff to address equipment-related concerns, improve process efficiency and mitigate environmental safety issues.
  • Assist in the installation of new equipment and machinery within the facility.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulations while performing maintenance tasks including but not limited to LOTO (lockout-tag out) procedures, wearing proper PPE, and flowing company policy on heavy equipment use.
  • Regularly participate in safety meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Lead MRF Mechanic or Processing Manager.
